An Angel win over the Blue Jays in which having no gnomes turned out to not be a problem.

Angels 8, Blue Jays 3

Los Angeles Angels of AWESOMENESS

  • Welcome back, Maicer!  I don’t care if he made an error at third he still is a sight for sore eyes after suffering so much Brandon Wood.  I am a bit surprised he hit eighth and not second, but clearly it worked out for the Angels, so I won’t complain.
  • Mike Napoli broke his homer streak last night, but started a new one tonight.  If he keeps this up, Mike Scioscia might even wise up and let him hit in front of Juan Rivera and Hideki Matsui who continue to struggle.
  • I really liked seeing the Angels getting back to some of their more small ball principles.  They had two infield singles, one suicide squeeze, a bunt single and another sacrifice bunt.  All that pressure led to three Toronto errors.  Just like old times for the Halos, hopefully it is here to stay.

Angels of FAIL

  • Torii Hunter needs to give Juan Rivera homer-robbing lessons.  Somehow Juan didn’t know you are supposed to jump over the wall, not into it as he tried to make a play on Aaron Hill’s homer that he might have been able to snag if he wasn’t so busy trying to create a blooper reel.
  • Where are the gnomes?!?!  I wasn’t even at the game and even I am pissed, especially withe all the promotion the Halos had leading up to garden gnome night.  Shipping error my ass.

Halo Hero of the Game

Los Angeles Angels at Chicago White Sox

He’s baaaaaaaack!

Forget his three home runs allowed, Ervin Santana was straight up dealing tonight.  He has very much rounded into form after a bumpy start to the season, and a big part of that is him just pounding the strike zone like he did tonight, getting 82 strikes in just 116 pitches during his complete game.  Sure, he made those three mistake pitches, but he also fanned 10 batters while only issuing one walk.  It looks like the Ervin Santana the Halos inked to a contract extension after a terrific 2008 season is finally back.
