The Angels are out to send a mesaage with this series. Most experts believe that Yankees and Rangers are the two best teams in baseball, with the Angels a distant third. Given that the Halos are throwing Santana and Haren in the next two games, a win tonight was imperitive. When your ace is on the hill in an important game, you need to deliver the message to your opponent that you mean business. Well, I think the Rangers realize that there is still a fight to be had to win the AL west.
— T’n’T did what they seem to do every night. Trumbo and Trout both went yard with Trout adding another 2-4 night for good measure. If there was any doubt who fuels this team it’s the dynamite kids.
— Very quietly Albet Pujols is starting to get back to where he belongs statistically. His average is at .281 with his 3-4 night, and he hasn’t really gotten hot. I still think there is a streak of crazy hitting in his future.
— Give it up for Howie Kendrick with a big hit early. With the Rangers leading 1-0 in the first, Kendrick got a big double to tie it and make it a game. Kendrick has had a sub par season but I have faith he will still be a key factor in any Angel success.
“Don’t worry boys, I got this”, Weaver said as he calmly worked out a couple of jams to get his 12th win of the year. Tonight’s game demonstrated why the Angels’ Ace is better than any Texas pitcher they can throw.
p.s. Anyone else more concerned with the hard charging A’s than the Rangers. Yes, the Rangers have a great offense, but I’m not sure I want to have anything to do with the A’s pitchers. Just some food for thought…
