Halo Headlines: De La Rosa and Burnett begin rehab assignments, Wilson upset with intentional walk

The April 3rd, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including De La Rosa and Burnett begin rehab assignments, Wilson upset with intentional walk and much more…

The Story: Dane De La Rosa and Sean Burnett are both being sent out on rehab assignments.

The Monkey Says: De La Rosa heads to Arkansas and is expected to be activated on April 11th. Burnett will head to extended spring training to throw more simulated games.

The Story: C.J. Wilson did not seem pleased with having to intentionally walk Robinson Cano Tuesday night.

The Monkey Says: One can certainly debate the wisdom of that decision, but ultimately it is on C.J. for not making better pitches to Justin Smoak. Still, a bit early for the seeds of discontent to be sown, no? So much for team chemistry.

The Story: The Angels claimed reliever Michael Brady off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

The Monkey Says: He’s 27 and never pitched above Double-A. Granted, he pitched very well last season, but with him being so old, don’t go getting your hopes up. It is fine that Dipoto is taking a flyer on him though since he has open 40-man roster spots anyway.

The Story: The Angels’ international signing pool is nearly $400,000 more than it was last year.

The Monkey Says: It will be interesting to see how they go about spending it this year. They’ve been mostly quiet internationally the last few years with the exception of one big signing each year. Maybe they can go more for quantity with the bigger budget.
