Is a Josh Reddick Trade Too Crazy of an Idea for the Angels?

So there I was, just hanging out, painting the seats to a dining room set that is being turned into patio furniture, when I decided to take a break and check out Twitter. This is a regular thing for me, and it is fun to see what new and exciting news is going to lead […]

Series Preview: Angels vs. Rangers vs. Josh Hamilton

It is time to get back to playing baseball. We are all privy to the tumultuous off-field drama the Angels players have been subjected to over the course of the last week. It has been a nightmare, and nothing short of incredibly unfair to the players themselves. So if ever a three game road series […]

Second Guessing Scioscia – Dipoto’s downfall

Welcome to Second Guessing Scioscia, our look back at some of the questionable decisions that Mike Scioscia made in the last week. And, boy, there are some questionable decisions to be reviewed. In the history of this column, we have never once struggled for content. However, we aren’t anti-Scioscia. The official MWAH stance on Scioscia is pro-Scioscia overall. […]

Jerry Dipoto: a successful GM that failed BIG

Jerry Dipoto‘s embattled tenure in Anaheim has come to a premature end. Dipoto leaves behind a franchise now embroiled in turmoil but also a legacy which history will likely look back kindly on. His reign accomplished most everything that he wanted it to in terms of building a long-term foundation for the ballclub, but he achieved […]

Series Takeaways: Angels win series over Yankees amid inner turmoil

Just keep winning series’. That should be the motto for this team. The Angels brass can’t seem to get it’s act together, and it cost them Jerry Dipoto, but if the team on the field can’t just continue to take two out of three from each team they face, then it won’t matter what happens […]

Boxscore Breakdown #79: Same old, same old – Yankees 3, Angels 1

In the first game of the post-Dipoto era, the Angels turned out to have the exact same problems they had before he left. The lineup continued to undersupport the pitching staff by being comically inept with runner in scoring position. It is almost like it is a coaching problem or something. Hmm, weird. Yankees 3, […]

Moreno continues his meddling, and down goes Dipoto…

What a terrible day to be an Angels fan. It has been widely reported that Jerry Dipoto has resigned from his position as General Manager effective immediately amidst the fallout of a power struggle with manager Mike Scioscia. Jerry has packed up his belongings, cleared out his office and peeled out of Anaheim just like […]

It’s official, Jerry Dipoto resigns as Angels GM (UPDATE: Stoneman named interim GM)

After all the late night rumors and Hail Mary attempts to salvage the relationship this morning, it is now official. Jerry Dipoto resigns as the Angels GM.

Even if you didn’t like what Dipoto did with the Angels, this is a disaster. The Angels, who have yet to issue a statement, are now without a GM one month before the trade deadline. The team is also once again embroiled in controversy right win the team has started winning again.

In the immediate future, the Angels need to name an interim GM. Internal candidates appear to be Matt Klentak and Hal Morris. Scott Servais and Bill Stoneman have both been mentioned, but neither are likely. There are also rumblings that Bud Black could be hired into the role in the ultimate display of Scioscia nepotism.

We will update this post as more details come out.

UPDATE!

Bill Stoneman has been named the interim GM with the front office otherwise remaining intact.

The Angels are literally de-evolving before our very eyes.

Jerry Dipoto is gone and so is the Angels’ credibility

It is all over but for the crying. Jerry Dipoto is no longer the general manager of the Angels according to multiple sources, the team just hasn’t gotten around to announcing it yet. Dipoto has packed up his office and left the building, taking whatever shreds of credibility the Angels franchise had left with him. […]

Boxscore Breakdown #78: A departing gift – Angels 2, Yankees 1

We didn’t know it at the time, but this game may have been the departing gift of GM Jerry Dipoto who allegedly resigned last night. The embattled executive fittingly leaves the team on the heels of them getting four games over .500 for the first time all season and did so on the arm of […]

The Scioscia vs. Dipoto feud springs eternal

Here we go again. Scioscia vs. Dipoto, round three… or is it four? Five maybe? I’m positive it is no more than six. That’s really the problem here, isn’t it? We are three and a half years into the Jerry Dipoto era in Anaheim and, based on recent reports, Jerry and his manager still aren’t, wait for […]
