Series Preview: Angels vs. Diamondbacks vs. Mediocrity

Are the Angels getting back to winning? Well, tentatively speaking, they are. After getting swept out of the Little League stadium that resides in the Bronx, the Angels have turned around and won their last two series against the Rays and A’s. The last of which was the most sweet because screw the A’s and […]

Angels Player Power Rankings – Week 11

Let’s get these Angels Player Power Rankings out as fast as we can before Royals fans take over the voting and put Omar Infante in the #1 spot. NOT LISTED: Kirk Nieuwenhuis (returned to sender), Daniel Robertson (dude, he just got here, let him get settled in)

Series Takeaways: Angels take two from A’s, then implode

It’s not often that a single three-game series encapsulates all the good and bad that’s befallen a team in a season. You get some instances where all the bad emerges—see: the Yankees series—and others where it’s nothing but good—see: the Detroit series—but rarely do you get both extremes. An even rarer bird is the series […]

Angels Quote of the Day: C.J. Wilson on his preferred Game of Thrones death

C.J. Wilson gets pretty emotional over Game of Thrones, it seems. He was drained by what happened to Princess Shireen, which naturally led to him being asked about how he would like to meet his end if he were ever to end up as a character on Game of Thrones:

“The only real baller way to go is a knife through the heart … or the dragon eats you, that’s tight. If you get killed by the dragon, that’s super tight.”

C.J. Wilson getting eaten by a dragon. Someone needs to make that GIF right away. Get to work, internet. Also, the idea of a guy known for nibbling at the corners getting nibbled on by an animal is pretty ironic.

The only question remaining now for C.J. is what horrifyingly depressing and shocking show he is going to watch before starts the rest of the season. I’m guessing he’s a Hannibal kind of guy.

Boxscore Breakdown #63: Slop – Athletics 8, Angels 1

When you are facing one of the best pitchers in baseball, you really have to be on top of your game. You can’t make a single mistake and give that pitcher any kind of edge. You can’t do things like, just a random example I pulled out of thin air, this: Yeah, the Angels did […]

Boxscore Breakdown #62: That’s so Angels-A’s – Angels 1, Athletics 0

The Angels and the A’s play one-run ballgames. That’s just what they do. That’s all the broadcasters for either side even talk about during the games. For the entirety of this century, that is how the Halos and A’s even out. Nothing could be more Angels-A’s than a literal one-run ballgame, as in only one run was […]

Stat Sunday: Street Struggling With Command

The sample size is still small, but most of Huston Street’s peripheral numbers appear to be trending in a positive direction this season. His strikeout rate is up, his home run rate is down, his batting average-against is down, and his walk rate is right in line with his career norms. And with the tallying […]

Boxscore Breakdown #61: Bobble this – Angels 5, Athletics 4

It should be Kole Calhoun Bobblehead Night every night. This whole move to the clean-up spot hasn’t been working out so great for Kole so far, but it worked like a charm last night as he basically won the game for the Halos twice. First, there was a go-ahead double that would’ve won the game […]

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Los Angeles Angels

Six prospects the Angels should not trade

Prospects are currency. They’re what makes the baseball world go round. You see, free agents in their late 20’s and early 30’s typically have about five years left of major league productivity and cost tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. But if your team has a prospect for that spot, he can play six […]

Series Preview: Angels vs. Athletics vs. Rotation Regularity

After dropping four of six on their recent East coast swing against the Yankees and Rays, the Angels return home to the Big A for a three-game set against their division rival Oakland Athletics. The A’s are currently riding the hot streak of rookie centerfielder Billy Burns and coming off a series win against the […]

Series Takeaways: Pujols powers Angels against the Rays

The Angels got back on track in St. Petersburg this week, earning their first series victory of the month thanks to strong performances from their starting pitching and the continued hot hitting of Albert Pujols and Mike Trout. After crumbling so spectacularly under the bright lights at Yankee Stadium over the weekend, one has to […]
