Albert terrorizes the Chicago-ans like old times; Angels defeat the Cubs, 4-3

It was as if seeing that red "C" emblazoned on the Cubs' jersey and stitched on their caps triggered something in the former Cardinal. In that 8th inning, Albert Pujols launched the first pitch he saw into the left field seats for a 2-run home run. Significant, because it would give the Angels a 4-3 lead. Significant, because it would go on to be the first late-inning, game-winning home run of Pujols' Angel career.
The Angels came away from their closed-door meeting with something resembling passion. The most notable sign of that was this gem of a reaction from the excitable Erick Aybar after Pujols launched his home run.
Jered Weaver did some great work once again, as well. As quickly as the Angels fell back to new lows this past weekend, there's nothing like the big guys stepping up to inject hope back into a lifeless season.
Game Notes
— Alberto Callaspo looms jumpy at third base. He booted a ground ball for a costly error and also skipped a throw to first that was mercifully saved by Albert Pujols. Hopefully the otherwise solid third basemen figures himself out soon. He cost Weaver a couple unearned runs.
— I suppose now is as good a time as any to point out that Chris Iannetta is on pace for 91 walks – and 83 hits.
