- The Story: Is Mike Scioscia the best manager in the American League? The Monkey Says: We’ll find out today when the Manager of the Year awards are handed out. Frankly, if it isn’t Scioscia in the AL, then it will be a trave-sham-mockery.
- The Story: The Angels should focus on signing Kendry Morales and Jered Weaver to long-term contracts rather than pursuing any big money free agents. The Monkey Says: There is a time and a place to start those contract talks, but now is not that time. Don’t expect any movement on contract extension talks for any Angel player until a few weeks before Spring Training at the earliest.
- The Story: The Washington Nationals are the latest team to throw their hat in the ring for signing John Lackey. The Monkey Says: And Big John might very well stomp on their hat and then throw it back out of the ring. Lackey isn’t going to sign with a horrid franchise like Washington when he can get likely better money from teams with much better chances of competing every year.
- The Story: The Angels can blame the Gary Matthews signing if they end up with too little money to get the free agents they want this winter. The Monkey Says: Thanks for the reminder that GMJ is the unwanted gift that keeps on giving, you know, like herpes. Hopefully the Angels can at least pay someone to take him off their hands so we at least don’t have to keep listening to him complain about never getting a chance to play even though he clearly doesn’t deserve such as chance.
