And here come the Damn Yankees. Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the fray after a day off, the best team in the AL shows up to rain on our happy little AL West parade. To add to the fun, Gargantua himself, Bartolo Colon, heads to the mound to try to throw his weight around against the Halos. Colon has been struggling a bit, but then again so has Jered Weaver. This isn’t time for a tired arm Jered, the playoffs are at stake!!
There was a fair amount of hoopla surrounding Weaver’ short rest implosion in Texas and susequent shelling his last couple of outings. Although he is 2-1 in his last three starts, his ERA is a mammoth 6.50 and he averaging only 1 strikeout per inning over that time span. Jered’s prediliction for the long ball has also reared it’s ugly head at the wrong time since the Yanks hit homers with alarming frequency (that kind of payroll means you only get the finest PED’s). Weaver needs a bounce back perfomance along with a resurgance of the offense to take this one and keep up with Texas.
