The Monkey Says: Part of me hopes there is a playoff just because it would be so exciting, but I also don’t know if I could handle a potentially decisive end of season series getting extended one more game.

The Monkey Says: That’s a lot of first pitches being thrown out, but with the Yankees as the opposing team, I think the Angels probably felt a little extra pressure to do something of substance for the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
The Story: Jered Weaver will be inducted into the Long Beach State athletics Hall of Fame.
The Monkey Says: Steve Trachsel is going to be pissed now that he isn’t the most famous Dirtbag ballplayer in the HoF.
The Story: The pressure will be on the Angel bullpen in the race for the playoffs.
The Monkey Says: That is not entirely true. I actually think there is more pressure on the Angel starters to go as deep into games as possible so that the bullpen doesn’t get a chance to screw things up.
The Monkey Says: I don’t think Navarro is really going to have much of a career, but it is still pretty amazing that he reached this level, even if it is only for a cup of coffee.
The Story: Mark Trumbo is making good as a hometown kid helping his team in the playoff push.
The Monkey Says: For all the crap that he is getting (some from me, to be fair) about having a sub-.300 OBP, it is still important to remember that he has been huge for the Angels in terms of filling the void created by Kendrys Morales’ injury setback and Vernon Wells’ awful season. I know I was not alone in wondering if he could even hit in the majors, but he has shown that he will definitely have some kind of career, potentially a very good one if he ever learns to control the strike zone better.
