This is it, folks. One win away from the Angels’ first sweep of the season and the confidence boost this team needs to get the ball rolling.
The Angels face a not-so-hot pitcher in Liam Hendricks this evening. Hendricks’ last outing consisted of giving up seven runs through four innings to the Boston Red Sox. The Angels will either get a Hendricks looking to bounce back from a less than desirable outing or a Hendrcks who remains off his game.
Either way, I think they’ll be just fine.
Jered Weaver is making his fourth start for the Angels this season and with a perfect record thus far, he is sure to do damage on the Twins’ line up.
The past two games of this series against the Twins have given Angels fans (and the team itself) a taste of what typical Angels’ baseball is supposed to be like. Not this team from an alternate universe that we had the displeasure of watching in April.
Tonight, I look to Torii Hunter and Howie Kendrick to keep the line up in the game. Hendricks faces a dangerous five and six spot with those two, one after the other.
Vernon Wells has made his way into the two spot for the Halos tonight and…yeah, I don’t know how to explain that.
Peter Bourjos will see the field again, getting his looks at the plate as Scioscia had mentioned. Mike Trout has done wonders for the line up in the past two games and I hope Bourjos has that competitive fire necessary to perform at the plate like we all know he can.
Today is brought to you by the letter W: W is for Weaver. W is win.
Pardon my Sesame Street antics, but I’m feeling swell about this game.
