Every coach I’ve ever had through my many years of sports (soccer, basketball, softball, etc.) always sat our team down before a game and told us that the most important thing that we could do was have fun. As long as we had fun… Win or lose, have fun…
Well, I’m sorry. Losing isn’t fun. Losing isn’t fun at all. Winning is fun. Therefore, one must win to have fun.
I’m going to kindly and respectfully (for you, Mr. Cronkite) remove my journalism cap for a moment while I freak out.
BEAT A MEDIOCRE TEAM MORE THAN ONCE. That’s right, I’m not even going to say please.
This is Oakland, for goodness sake. THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS OF 2012. I refuse to let the Angels walk away with the same amount of wins against the Athletics as they did against the Rangers. It’s not supposed to work that way.
Then again, this whole season wasn’t supposed to work this way.
I can sit here and talk match-ups and strategy all day long, but in actuality, the Angels’ problems are far too simple for me to waste my oxygen with such idle prattle. So here’s my advice for the Halos today:
See the ball. Hit the ball. When there are runners on base, do something about it. Take the pressure off of yourselves and play the game.
Much easier said than done, but it’s really as simple as that.
Go put on a show for all seventeen fans that show up to this Wednesday day game in Oakland.
