Interleague play continues to bring us odd match-ups between teams that, one would think, have very liittle in common. Deeper than that, what we see are two teams that are similar in their plight. Both teams were expected to be playoff contenders. Both got off to less than steller starts and have spent the last month getting back into their division races. Both have a ton of potential and have failed to live up to expectations. Both are warmish over the past couple of weeks, which should add up to some entertaining baseball.
The obvious storyline tonight is Dan Haren facing off against his former team. Haren has continued his up and down season by going 2-1 over his last three starts, with his last outing being a somewhat rocky one against Colorado. The Angels will see a familiar foe in a new uni in Trevor Cahill. The former Oakland A has had some success against the Halos so that would appear to not bode well. Hopefully, Albert Pujols, Miek Trout and company took advantage of their day off to recharge to batteries after that woeful offensive showing against the Dodgers. Now is not the time for a power outtage.
