After a successful series against the Rangers the Angels are looking to get back to their abusive ways against their favorite punching bag the Seattle Mariners. This would be a great time for Santana to get back on a good streak as his last two games have left him winless, though it doesn’t seem like his control issues over the past few games are going to whisk away in time for tonight’s start. Santana just isn’t the type of pitcher who can get things going at the snap of someones fingers, and as bad as his last few starts have been it seems as if he’s on track for another mediocre start. He’s only worked 10 innings in his previous two starts, walking 8 and giving up 9 runs in each start.
Doesn’t seem like much of a recipe for success does it?
It doesn’t get any better when you realize Jason Vargas, who happens to be on fire, will be pitching against the Angels today. Oh, and did I mention he absolutely kills it in Anaheim?
It feels a little ridiculous typing this upcoming sentence, but if the Angels want to get another big streak rolling they’re going to have to trudge past the Mariners and Santana’s woes on the mound.
