If only every game went according to this plan. The Angels got strong starting pitching, good defense and timely hitting to get a nice win to start the road trip.
Angels 7 Rockies 2
Game Notes
— Mike Trout is just stupid good. He is making a mockery of this game with his nightly performance. He has already solidified himself as one of the premier leadoff men in the game and tonight he did not dissapoint with three hits, 2 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. But I imagine the entire Halo nation held their breath when he got hit on the hand late in the game. Seriously Mr. Esmil Rogers, unless you want a mob of red clad pitchfork wielding Angel fans on your door you might want to not throw at our favorite son again.
— CJ Wilson was also very, very good tonight. He had great pace and a full command of his pitches in eight solid innings of work. I never once thought the Rockies would mount a threat against CJ.
— We survived night one of the Kendrys-Albert switch unscathed. Albert even made a nice play at third to start a double play. I wonder if Scioscia would consider a long term stay for Pujols at the hot corner and moving Trumbo to first when they go back to the AL?
Halo Hero
Given everything Torii Hunter has been through this season, it was great to see him have the night he had. He had six RBI’s with two homers and made a great play in right to throw out Todd Helton at third. Clearly hitting second in the line-up was a boost to his skills (looks like Scioscia listens to the Monkey with a Halo Podcast where this was suggested a couple of weeks ago…better question, are you listening?)
