VIDEO: Albert Pujols hits 500th career home run

Reports of Albert Pujols’ demise were greatly exaggerated. Finally healthy again, Albert has been on a tear this season and what better way to show that than him smacking his 500th career home run.

Oh, by the way, this was his second homer of the game and gives him the MLB lead in home runs. So, yeah, I think he’s going to be just fine.

Up next on the Pujols milestone checklist is passing Eddie Murray at 504 homers to break into the top 25 all-time. With the way Pujols is going this year, he seems quite likely to be in the top 20 by the end of the season.

David Freese has Anaheimnesia

Anaheimnesia ‘anə hīm nēZHə noun a partial or total loss of memory pertaining to how to hit a baseball that affects hitters in their first year after being acquired by the Angels. There are so many threats to a player’s well being in the modern game of baseball, but on threat currently casts a greater shadow than […]

Boxscore Breakdown Game #19: No stars needed – Angels 4, Tigers 2

Coming into this series, the story was all about Trout and Harper. Harper and Trout! Trouper and Hart! Hout and Trarper! Guess what? Neither of them really played a factor in this game. Heck, they didn’t even have the common decency to fight to the death to prove who was the superior player. Pfft, amateurs. […]

Series Preview: Angels vs. Nationals vs. Forced Narrative

OH MY GAWD! TROUT VS. HARPER! IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! Sure, the media has been pitting Trout against Harper since before either was in the majors, but this is the first time that they have, you know, actually played against each other. There is going to be so much forced narrative in this series that it […]

Boxscore Breakdown Game #18: Little League – Tigers 2, Angels 1

Just look at this mess. This is a Little League play. This is the a “Dammit, Angels” play. How is a professional team capable of such nonsense? Why is Hector Santiago throwing submarine-style 60-feet away from the plate? What happened to the Angels being able to play defense? What happened to the Angels, in general? […]

VIDEO: Camera guy eats it hard trying to film J.B. Shuck home run

Saturday in Detroit, something truly amazing happened: J.B. Shuck, he of the 11 career homers, including the minors, took reigning AL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer deep for a leadoff home run. It was a feat so stunning that the cameraman filming Shuck’s home run trot, tripped and fell hard following Shuck as he turned for home.

The cameraman might tell you that he simply lost his footing, but I prefer to believe that he was in such a state of shock at what he had just witnessed that his brain simply shut down all of his motor functions, thus the embarrassing tumble in the video above.

Boxscore Breakdown Game #17: Sisyphus – Tigers 5, Angels 2

Once again, the Angels had a chance to get over the .500 hump. Once again they failed thanks in large part to Max Scherzer playing the role of the boulder to the Angels’ Sisyphus. Run Expectancy Rundown I’m still trying to figure out how it is we came to live in a world where J.B. […]
