Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim v Washington Nationals

500 homers a culmination for Pujols, but not the Angels

Much has been made of how much has NOT been made of Albert Pujols‘ pursuit of joining the 500-homer club. As only the 26th player to ever accomplish the feat, it deserves to be lauded, but some feel that, for a multitude of reasons, it hasn’t gotten the same fanfare that something like Derek Jeter‘s […]

VIDEO: Albert Pujols hits 500th career home run

Reports of Albert Pujols’ demise were greatly exaggerated. Finally healthy again, Albert has been on a tear this season and what better way to show that than him smacking his 500th career home run.

Oh, by the way, this was his second homer of the game and gives him the MLB lead in home runs. So, yeah, I think he’s going to be just fine.

Up next on the Pujols milestone checklist is passing Eddie Murray at 504 homers to break into the top 25 all-time. With the way Pujols is going this year, he seems quite likely to be in the top 20 by the end of the season.

Just look at this mess. This is a Little League play. This is the a “Dammit, Angels” play. How is a professional team capable of such nonsense? VIDEO: Camera guy eats it hard trying to film J.B. Shuck home run

Saturday in Detroit, something truly amazing happened: J.B. Shuck, he of the 11 career homers, including the minors, took reigning AL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer deep for a leadoff home run. It was a feat so stunning that the cameraman filming Shuck’s home run trot, tripped and fell hard following Shuck as he turned for home.

The cameraman might tell you that he simply lost his footing, but I prefer to believe that he was in such a state of shock at what he had just witnessed that his brain simply shut down all of his motor functions, thus the embarrassing tumble in the video above.
