No Vlad + No Abreu + No idea to to create a balanced line-up = No Offense

equation fail

That is the equation Mike Scioscia and the Angels are operating under right now.  They’ve muddled through much of the season without their franchise slugger, Guerrero, and will now have to go without Abreu who has a boo-boo on his toe.

If you thought the Halos getting shutdown by that Chris Jabbawockeez guy last night was bad, then you may want to avert your eyes tonight since the Mariners have a real starting pitcher toeing the rubber tonight in the form of Erik Bedard.

Questions of the Night:

  • Why is Ken Griffey Jr. killing the Angels?  He is 5-for-9 this series and has a RBI in each game, including the lone RBI last night.  Did he not get the memo that he is supposed to be washed up?  He normally doesn’t play versus lefties, but I get the feeling the Ms will try and ride his hot streak and let him face Saunders tonight.
  • Will the real Joe Saunders please stand up?  Is it going to be the Saunders that got pounded by Texas last time out or the Saunders that threw a shutout the start before that?
  • Whither Torii Hunter’s power?  After bashing 8 homers in April, Hunter has just one long ball this month.  Even though Torii has been basically carrying the team all year long, he needs to step it up even more now that Abreu is dinged up.
