• The Story: Landing Paul Konerko is now wishful thinking for the Angels.   The Monkey Says: The Halos have long coveted Konerko and he was considered a top trade target for them when Kendry Morales went down, but since then the White Sox have gotten hot and are now looking to be buyers at the deadline rather than sellers, meaning the Angel front office will have to continue hopelessly pining for the day Konerko will be theirs.
  • The Story: Torii Hunter could use some help.   The Monkey Says: He doesn’t need some help right now, he needs a lot of help.  Abreu, Matsui and Rivera are all scuffling big time at the plate the last few weeks, leaving Torii as the only real run producer in the line-up.  There is simply no way the Angels let the deadline go by without picking up another bat, maybe even two.  And we still haven’t even talked about the need to beef up the bullpen yet.
  • The Story: Jered Weaver is now the Seam Weaver.   The Monkey Says: People are finally starting to catch on to Weaver’s new and improved two-seam fastball and how it is helping him evolve as a pitcher.  The more of these types of stories I see, the more people seem to be convinced that Weaver can
  • The Story: Paul McAnulty is forming a bond with Mickey Hatcher.   The Monkey Says: Well, he should break it because he has struck out in all but two at-bats in his brief Angel career.  Whatever Mick is telling him clearly isn’t working.
  • The Story: MLB, the Angels and the Anaheim Police are ramping up efforts to stop the sale of counterfeit All-Star merchandise.   The Monkey Says: Now what am I going to do with all these 2010 All-Star t-shirts I just had printed up?
