The November 22nd, 2011 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including the Angels wine and dine C.J. Wilson, also show interest in Madson and Linebrink, Rangers look like they have moved on from Wilson and much more…

The Story: GM Jerry Dipoto and Mike Scioscia had dinner with free agent pitcher C.J. Wilson.

The Monkey Says: My guess is that this dinner will result in an offer from the Angels in the next day or two that Wilson will either accept or turn down and then that will be the end of it.  The Halos have gone after him too hard for too long to let him keep stringing them along.

The Story: Add Scott Linebrink and Ryan Madson to the list of relievers the Angels are interested in.

The Monkey Says: The article also suggests they shown interest in Roy Oswalt and scouted Cuban prospect Yoenis Cespedes.  Considering that the Angels have already gone on record as not having any interest in Cespedes, I’m guessing that might be old info.  It also seems like this entire speculation of who they have interest in is pretty loose as it now covers just about half the available free agent relievers.

The Story: The Texas Rangers have signed closer Joe Nathan and appear set to have Neftali Feliz take over C.J. Wilson’s spot in the rotation.

The Monkey Says: This is a risky but savvy move by Texas.  Feliz isn’t a lock to be quality starter, but he could also be a legit ace.  Texas also saves a lot of money in the process, which concerns me a bit since they clearly don’t think Wilson is worth the price, even though his price has not been established yet.

The Story: Justin Verlander won the AL MVP while no Angel got even a tenth place vote.

The Monkey Says: …not that any of them deserved a vote, but it is worth noting.
