Today is the day the Angels return to glory. I say that in part because this is the first time Ervin Santana returns to Cleveland since he threw his no-hitter there last season. I also say that because this is the day where the Angels season will turn around as they make their way back into contention. Or it better be. If it isn’t, then they probably won’t be getting back into contention. That same axiom applies to Santana too.
Ervin obviously doesn’t need to throw a no-hitter again or anything, but he needs to pitch well to give the Angels any sense of comfort in his abilities this season. I mean, this homer thing is getting ridiculous with him and now that the Halos are in roster upheaval mode, he could be the next recipient of Jerry Dipoto’s season-saving machinations. OK, that’s probably over-stating it, but hyperbole and overreaction is sort of the order of the day when it comes to being an Angel fan.
