You can blink and rub your eyes all you want. You can even restart your computer. No need to look twice, the Angels have set themselves up for their first sweep of the season.

Angels 4, Twins 0

I don’t believe in jinxing, so sorry, I’m going to say it. The Angels are past the point of superstition and about to sweep the Twins.

Jerome Williams put on a show tonight, pitching his first shutout ballgame in nine years. His second appearance as an optional fifth starter this season went over very well this evening. Hopefully his success is something that Scioscia has recognized, Morneau-less line up or not.

Having allowed a mere three hits from the Twins tonight, I’m sure an outing on the mound is significantly more comfortable with a lead that consists of more than one run. The Angels offense gave their pitcher just that.

Torii Hunter is carrying the offense on his back with his performance in the past couple of games. He was responsible for two Angel runs tonight, followed by Albert Pujols and Howie Kendrick who knocked in the other two.

Hunter has assumed the role as a leader again, which the Halos have needed. When you perform well on the field, it carries over to the dugout and the clubhouse. It is apparent that Hunter is back in the swing of things, especially at the plate. I’d like to see him claim this series with another home run tomorrow night.

Kendrick continues to impress me and I firmly believe he is one of the most dangerous hitters in our line up. He is quick and can hit for power. Just a double shy of the cycle tonight, Kendrick is that sweet spot in our line up. To be honest, the Angels could use a couple more of those and that’s no secret.

Mike Trout brought back a taste of an Angels team we’re all familiar with and contributed to the small-ball game this evening. Trout proudly displayed his speed with his first stolen base of the season and I say the Trout Era has begun in Anaheim. He is the definition of Angels’ baseball. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m ready for it.

Open your broom closets, ladies and gentlemen. I feel a sweep coming on.
