5. Losers of eight of their last ten games heading into the break, the Angels are in unfamiliar territory since they typically enter the break on a hot streak rather than a cold snap.  And now saddled with a 4.5 game deficit to the Rangers, the Halos need to find a way to heat up in a hurry and start the second half right.  Getting the Mariners at home is a great start since they’ve already taken seven of their nine matchups.  It is imperative that they get their offense rolling this series (even though Seattle still has pretty good starting pitching even after trading away Cliff Lee) because they are really going to need some hot bats the rest of the month when their remaining opponents consist entirely of the Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox and Rangers again.

4. One of the prime suspects in the Angel lineup power outage the last few weeks has been Bobby Abreu, but it looked like he was starting to figure things out again during the Oakland series, for the sake of the Angels being able to score runs, let’s hope that whatever momentum Bob Kelly was building before the break hasn’t been ground to a screeching halt by the three days off.

3. For the third time this season, Jered Weaver and Felix Hernandez will oppose each other.  Let’s hope it goes just like the first two starts as both were won by the Angels behind amazing efforts from Weaver.  In those two starts, Jered has pitching 14.1 total innings while allowing just one run (and it was unearned), five hits and six walks while fanning 13.  If he pitches like that again, then I think we can officially declare that Weaver should be granted legal ownership of both the Mariners and King Felix.

2. Please, no Paul McAnulty this series, that is all I ask.  I can’t watch his chunky ass strikeout anymore.  Really, anybody else would a better option than McAnulty, even Robb Quinlan (something I thought I would never say).  Let’s just agree to let Mike Napoli start at first everyday until the Angels can trade for a suitable upgrade.  After three days off, he might be well rested enough to get going on another hot streak anyway, so let’s not mess with it.

1. I was going to try and let the Cliff Lee thing go, but, nope, not going to happen.  Seriously, screw you, Seattle.  Teams almost NEVER trade within the division, even if one of those teams is currently mopping up the basement floor of said division.  It screws up the balance of power and pisses everyone else off and sooner or later it will come back to bite you in the ass, especially if Lee is re-signed by the Rangers after the season.  I think it is only fair that to try and balance out the mayhem you have caused that you spread the wealth.  So, as such, the Angels will be plenty glad to take Felix Hernandez off your hands and maybe you can throw in Ichiro too.
